Emcee N.I.C.E. Talks Remixing Richard Smallwood’s “Angels” and Creating Crossover Music

Remember Richard Smallwood’s legendary song, “Angels?” Hip-hop producer/artist Emcee N.I.C.E. sampled it and hit the top of the charts!

While many weren’t receptive at first, N.I.C.E. says what made him keep pushing was his belief in the message of the song, which Smallwood actually approved. It turned out to be the lead single off his debut inspirational album, Praise, and now he’s back with a second single called “Alright,” an update on Da Jammies – Netflix’s first African American animated 3D music series about musical kids he co-created and stars in – and more.

Having worked with Nas, K-Ci (of K-Ci and JoJo), MC Lyte and more, he’s no stranger to music and has an ear to create. Watch up top as he dives into what inspired him to crossover to the Christian genre and create his first inspirational album.
