Beyonce is the new owner of a 7,500-square-foot church in New Orleans, according to TMZ.
Having sat for some time without worship services, the 1900s church sold for over $850,000 near her Solange Knowles’ place of residence.
The purchase comes weeks after news of a Beyonce Mass held at Grace Cathedral in San Francisco (unrelated to Beyonce’s doing). There, Rev. Yolanda Norton, assistant professor of Old Testament at San Francisco Theological Seminary who created the “Beyoncé and the Hebrew Bible” class at SFTS, led service.
The first service garnered over 900 attendees who showed up to celebrate traditional biblical teaching referencing Beyonce’s music and social philosophy. It was part of a 3-part series called “Speaking Truth: The Power of Story in Community,” which “aims to tell stories of those traditionally marginalized in Christianity such as women and people of color.”
So, when you think of the empowerment in Beyonce’s music, it all makes sense!
