Watch: Beyonce Performs ‘Take My Hand Precious Lord’ at the 2015 Grammys

Beyonce took home three Grammy awards this year (best surround album, R&B song and performance), making her the second most honored woman in Grammy history with a total of 20 awards. She didn’t get best album of the year – though Kanye West thought she should have, hence him pretending to bum-rush stage like he did a few years ago at the VMAs when Taylor Swift won over Bey – but she did help close out the show with a performance of the popular old school gospel record, “Take My Hand Precious Lord.”

“Take My Hand Precious Lord” was originally written by Rev. Thomas A. Dorsey in 1932 after the childbirth death of his wife Nettie and their son-to-be. The song is said to be inspired by the 1844 hymn, “Maitland.”
