Grammy nominated music legend Candi Staton recently released a new song and it’s her first gospel record in seven years! If her name doesn’t instantly ring a bell, the 1976 “Young Hearts Run Free” R&B track might (somebody’s mom played this on a Saturday morning!).
Staton transitioned into gospel music back in 1982 when she formed her own record label – Beracah Records – and later went on to top gospel Billboard charts with radio hits like “Sin Doesn’t Live Here Anymore” and “Love Lifted Me.” In between that, her career also shifted into hosting. For over 20 years she worked with Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN) to anchor the “New Direction” and “Say Yes” weekly television shows.
In 2003 she dipped back into R&B and inspirational music, garnering much success in the U.S. and the European market. Fast forward to 2015, she’s still working and back on your radio.
