Washington, DC — Vocalist Robert E. Person is ushering in the holiday season with two Christmas songs to his credit this year. Once again, Person showcases his vocal skills and versatility with one of the best loved songs from the stage and screen “My Favorite Things”. He is also demonstrating his producer skills with “O Come Emmanuel” recorded by fellow Washington, DC Gospel singer/group Mike McCoy & Voices United.
“My Favorite Things” is the Rodgers and Hammerstein classic made globally popular from the epic family film The Sound of Music. The celebratory tune has also become a seasonal song enjoyed during Christmas time. Person and his orchestra recorded “My Favorite Things” live in studio as part of his forthcoming album CLASSIC COVERS. Person has made the live video recording session of “My Favorite Things” available on YouTube.
“Christmas and the Holiday Season are both times of celebration and reflection,” Person shares. “My birthday is the day after Christmas, so ever since I was a child, this season for me represents great expectation. As an adult, I’ve become more reflective of the gift of Christ – the true reason for the season.”
Stellar Award Nominated Gospel group Mike McCoy and Voices United tapped Person to produce their Christmas single “O Come Emmanuel” featuring Christie Dashiell.
“O Come Emmanuel is one of my favorite songs during the advent and Christmas season,” McCoy explains. “Even though the song is centuries old, it remains prevalent in the present times where there is so much racism and hatred. This song represents a prayer that is pleading for God to come rescue, deliver and heal our land. This is my prayer for the world today.”
Person’s “My Favorite Things” and McCoy’s “O Come Emmanuel” will be available on all digital music and streaming outlets on Friday, November 24.
After the holiday season Person will be putting the final touches on his CLASSIC COVERS album to be released in 2018. Earlier this year, Person released the first single from the album, “I Give You Praise”, an epic collaboration with legendary pianist and songwriter Richard Smallwood (“Total Praise”, “Center Of My Joy” and “I Love The Lord”). The Washingtonians’ impressive partnership blended Person’s gorgeous vocals with Smallwood’s signature style of beautifully arranged classical and sacred piano music.
