The SoundExchange Influencers Series is known for brining music legends and newcomers together to highlight generational changes and how music from the past impacted the present. In doing so, forums held tackle fair pay and recognition for all artists. This year, the series returns to Nashville’s famous Bluebird Cafe.
Tonight, gospel music icon and game changer BeBe Winans, along with newcomers Jonathan McReynolds and Alexa Cruse, will showcase their talents for the series in what’s sort of like a passing of the torch.
“For this installment, we have one of the greatest gospel singers of all time, a young man who has already made his mark only a few years into his career, and a promising young woman who is only just getting started,” SoundExchange President and CEO Michael Huppe said in a press release. “We are so excited about the conversation and exchange of ideas that will take place at this wonderful event.”
Jonathan made his debut back in 2012 with his chart-topping Life Music album and has since went on to record with Erica Campbell and work on his sophomore album. Alexa is the daughter of Grammy and Dove award-winning contemporary Christian artists Janice Archer Cruse of The Archers and John Cruse of The Cruse Family, and is making her own path as a singer and songwriter.
“I’m honored to be a part of The SoundExchange Influencers Series,” Winans said. “Making music has always been rewarding but meeting and performing with the next generation of artists that I have personally influenced is a gift unto itself.”
