Christian have been gathering in Texas with holy water, Jesus saves signs, rosary beads and wooden crosses to protest the opening of the Greater Church of Lucifer in a small town outside of Houston this past Halloween.
While it sounds like they’ll be worshipping Satan, the Christian Times, reported that leaders say they instead, exalt “the complete self.”
What’s that mean?
The Church of Lucifer says their beliefs are built off “forbidden knowledge and the paths to power.” Their mission statement reportedly reads: “Without the proverbial serpent in the tree, humanity would not be the incredible creature you see in the mirror.”
Texans aren’t buying it.
The church has been vandalized twice since opening. Vandals broke a window in one incident and damaged the roof in another.
Protests are expected to continue as the Greater Church of Lucifer plans to meet every two weeks. Their next “service” will be on November 13.
