Grand Jury Decides Not to Indict NYPD Officer Who Killed Eric Garner

After weeks of investigation, a Staten Island grand jury has decided not to indict the New York police officer who killed Eric Garner over the summer (2014).

Officer Daniel Pantaleo was captured on camera placing Garner in what the Medical Examiner’s Office ruled a chokehold that later ended his life. In the video below, Garner can be heard yelling, “I can’t breathe.”

Garner, unarmed, had been put under physical restraint by police during an argument with two plain-clothed cops after they stopped him on the street for allegedly selling illegal cigarettes.

Protests followed Garner’s death, claiming he was a victim of racial profiling.
