Actress Essence Atkins was at Hot 107.9 in Atlanta promoting her new stage play, Things Your Man Won’t Do, when she got down on her knees in adoration of a fan. What first started out as a skit of things one’s mate probably wouldn’t do turned into a very emotional moment for both the Are We There Yet actress and the woman she kneeled in front of.
In expressing how important it is for women to support each other, Atkins said, “If we don’t give that to each other y’all we are lost. We will never be what we can be.”
Totally unscripted, she went on to say: “I get down here on my knees, the way Jesus got down, and I give to you, and I say to you, thank you. Thank you for your strength, for your beauty, for your tenacity, for your integrity, for your intelligence, for your kindness, thank you.”
